Lindsey Bina was baptized and raised in West St. Paul and Mendota Heights. Lindsey graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a degree in religion and international studies, largely influenced by two travel experiences to visit her congregation’s companion community in Iringa, Tanzania. After graduation, she moved to Seattle, Washington to serve with two non-profit organizations through the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. Lindsey graduated from Luther Seminary in 2017. Most recently, Lindsey has been serving as a part of the pastoral team at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in North St. Paul where she has taken a lead on Care ministries.
Lindsey feels called to accompany people through the highs and lows of life in Christian community, and feels immensely grateful for the opportunity to grow in relationship, faith, and service alongside the people of SOTV.
Lindsey and husband, Jeff, met over 10 years ago. Celebrating five years of marriage, they are thrilled to be expecting their first child in late November. Lindsey enjoys making music, walking their North Minneapolis neighborhood with their dog, going to baseball games, reading, and planning their next escape to the North Shore.
Lindsey started at SOTV on September 13. She will be ordained at Augustana Lutheran Church in West St. Paul on September 23. You are welcome to join us for Lindsey’s installation at all services on September 29/30, 2018.
What is a Care Pastor?
For the last several months, we have been sharing information about the process of calling a “Care Pastor.” Many people have asked what this means. Don’t all of our pastors care? Of course!
Unlike some churches, all the pastors at SOTV share general pastoral duties like preaching, leading worship, teaching, participating in events, and visiting members during times of need.
On top of sharing these tasks, each pastor oversees a ministry focus. As Care Pastor, Lindsey will work with Care ministry staff to oversee support groups, visitation, prayer ministries, and more.
Other pastors oversee different areas. Wendy works with Learn ministry, with an emphasis on children, youth, and family. Randy is the Connect Pastor, overseeing the fellowship and outreach ministries. Rick oversees worship and some adult ministries, plus has administrative duties as Senior Pastor.
