What to Expect

Open Arms of Minnesota is a nonprofit organization that prepares and delivers nourishing, medically tailored meals free of charge to critically ill Minnesotans and their loved ones. Their work is made possible by a loving volunteer community!

This volunteer opportunity prepares, portions, and packages food for our medically tailored meals — no
culinary skills necessary! Youth age 6 and older are eligible to volunteer. More information here

Please review the information below for returning volunteers and new volunteers.

 Returning Volunteers:
If you are a returning volunteer to Open Arms follow these steps:

  1. Click on the button above.
  2. Log in to VolunteerHub
  3. Click “Events” and scroll down to your group’s event STP Shepherd of the Valley Group Kitchen Shift and click sign up.
  4. All good to go!

New Volunteers:
If you are a new volunteer to Open Arms follow these steps:

  1. Click on the button above.
  2. Click “Create Account” in the upper-right corner
  3. When prompted, enter the following “JOIN CODE”: ShepherdOA25
  4. Once you’ve created your account, click “Events” and scroll down to your group’s event STP Shepherd of the Valley Group Kitchen Shift and sign up.
  5. You will be prompted to acknowledge our Safety & Liability Waiver
  6. Scroll to the bottom and check the box to acknowledge you read and understand the waiver
  7. Click “FINISH” and you’re all set!

Complete Online Orientation:
This online orientation is only required the first time you volunteer.

  1. Watch the Open Arms Introduction and Kitchen Safety Protocols videos
  2. Review the Dress Code.
  3. Take the Quiz.
  4. All set!
