We’re excited to welcome Pastor Sharon Kelly to an interim call at SOTV! Take this opportunity to learn more about her and see what she’ll be up to while she’s here.
Interim Pastor Sharon Kelly is the eldest daughter of her widowed mother, sister (and sister-in-law) to three brothers and a sister, and aunt to three nephews and a niece, all of whom live in Maryland. She is married to Thomas Broich whom she lives with in Lauderdale, MN.
Pastor Sharon graduated from Western High School, the oldest public female high school in the United States. She earned her undergraduate Sociology degree from the University of Baltimore in Maryland and her Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (which is the oldest Lutheran seminary in the USA and has now joined the seminary in Philadelphia to become United Lutheran Seminary). Pastor Sharon received the rite of ordination as an ELCA pastor in 1988, and enjoyed 11.5 years in congregational calls in Missouri and Pennsylvania before serving for four years at Luther Seminary in Minneapolis, where she supported seminarians in field and internship placements. While there, she also started her doctoral degree in education philosophy at the University of Minnesota. She completed her degree in 2010, specializing in adult education.
Since 2003, Pastor Sharon has served as interim pastor at various congregations, mainly in the Twin Cities though also spending time in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Most recently, Pastor Sharon served at Redeemer Lutheran in north Minneapolis.
While at SOTV, Pastor Sharon will be involved with a variety of ministries, including: worship, funerals, weddings, baptisms, congregational care, and adult education. There are also a few special events she will be leading in the near future, and she hopes you can join her:
- Starting June 7, Pastor Sharon will be offering a 4 week Zoom Bible Study on First Peter.
- On June 10, Pastor Sharon will be the featured speaker at a prayer gathering for justice, held in the
SOTV parking lot. The event is open to the entire community.
Please help us welcome Pastor Sharon, and greet her after worship or at an upcoming event. We’re grateful for Pastor Sharon’s ministry, and the opportunity to partner with her over the next several months. Until we’re working regularly in the building again, you can reach her at sharon.kelly@sotv.org.
