What to Expect

Parents, Grandparents, and Caregivers, join us for an opportunity to learn alongside your 4th – 9th grader with dynamic guest speakers, which will run simultaneously at 3 different sessions.

Choose the topic that interests you most, or stick around for multiple sessions if you can’t pick just one!

Pizza, drinks, and snacks are available for purchase on site.

Session Options include:

  • “5 Love Languages: Making Every Connection Count” with Merri Guggisberg, Parent Coach & Family Connection Advocate. This workshop is designed to help families discover their primary love language, offering practical ways to express and receive love effectively across various settings. It’s ideal for strengthening relationships through improved communication and deeper understanding. Discover how enhancing connections can enrich all areas of life.

  • “Safe & Healthy Relationships for Youth” with Joy McElroy, Executive Director of Cherish All Children. Youth and parents will join together for an interactive session on healthy relationships, online safety, and how to stay clear of sexual exploitation. Activities and conversation will support youth’s understanding of healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, red flags, vulnerabilities, and online safety. Youth and parents will leave equipped to continue these conversations in your home, school and community. Opening these important topics in the safe spaces of our faith communities can help youth gain lifelong skills and a support network to make safe and healthy decisions for themselves.

Shepherd of the Valley is committed to welcoming people of all abilities and working to understand and meet the needs of our congregation. If your child needs an accommodation, modification, or assistance to fully participate in this event, please indicate this in the “Health Concern Explanation” field of your registration, and your program leader will follow up if there are questions. We may not be able to meet all requests at this time.

We intend to take photos and/or video at this event, which may appear in worship, social media, website, or congregational communication without names listed. If you have a concern about this, please email Kelsey Young.
