Lords Prayer
Faith Building Blocks: The Lord’s Prayer

Jesus taught his disciples to pray using the words of the Lord’s Prayer. Fast forward to today, when we recite the Lord’s Prayer together nearly every time we gather for worship. Many people learn this prayer as children and know it by heart. Through these resources, may you discover new insights and fresh ways to practice this timeless “building block” of faith.

Ideas for Grandparents

Consider these ideas for The Lord’s Prayer that you can incorporate into your own unique circumstances:

  • As a regular caregiver for little ones: Watch this video together and hear Douglas explain what different parts of the Lord’s Prayer (and its confusing words) mean.
  • With older grandkids: If any of them are into graphic novels, they might really appreciate “The Art Pastor’s Guide to the Lord’s Prayer,” by Steve Thomason.
  • At a family gathering: Use these cards for a little friendly (faith-filled) competition. Print a set of cards for each person or team, then race to put the cards in the correct order. Or use them as trivia: read the explanation and see who can guess which part of the prayer it describes.
  • From a distance: Send this resource to Color as you pray. Enjoy adding color and line to this version of the Lord’s Prayer.

How will you practice The Lord’s Prayer with those you love?
