Epiphany: Follow the Star

Epiphany 2025 runs from January 6 (Feast of the Epiphany to March 5 (Ash Wednesday). This season of the church year kicks off with the adventures of magi who follow a special star in search of the child Jesus.  Enjoy these activities and videos as they lead us on a journey of discovery and discipleship.

Ideas for Grandparents

Consider these ideas for Epiphany that you can incorporate into your own unique circumstances:

  • As a regular caregiver for little ones: Enjoy the music video for “We Three Kings”– Kirk Franklin’s version from the animated film The Star. Watch the whole movie if you can!
  • From a distance: Text or email the link to this video explaining the significance of the season of Epiphany within the church year.
  • With older grandkids: Choose a Guiding Star. This faith practice invites each person to choose a “star word” to guide him or her throughout the coming year. Make your own stars, or pick one up at the Worship Resources shelf outside the Sanctuary.
  • At a family gathering: Have a Sparkler Parade! Celebrate the Light of Christ in the world and our calling to be light in the world by bundling up, lighting sparklers, and taking a “glittery” walk around your yard or neighborhood one dark evening. You could sing “This Little Light of Mine” and then warm up with hot cocoa.

How will you explore Epiphany with those you love?

Share the Love

Share the Love: a Card-Making Service Project

Saturday, February 1, 9:00 -10:30 am.

All ages are invited to gather and make cards that “share the love” with people connected to SOTV and out in the community. This is a great opportunity for our youngest friends to serve alongside the most seasoned card-makers, and everyone in between.

Feel free to bring paper or craft materials that you’d like to share, but what we really want is you – no skill or supplies required! Please RSVP.
