Throughout February, the SOTV Food Shelf is collecting personal care items. Here are some ideas:
- Diapers and wipes
- Laundry soap
- Bath soap
- Tooth brushes
- Tooth paste
- Dish soap
- Dishwasher detergent
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Razors
- Deodorant
- Brown papers bags
Please bring any donations in a paper bag (preferably with handles) to SOTV while the building is open. Please check expiration dates; we cannot accept food that is expired. Thank you for your support!
When you think of “basic necessities,” what things come to mind? Many people would say things like food, clothing, water, shelter, and safety. These are definitely true. And also, there are many other basic necessities that many of us take for granted:
- A warm shower with soap and shampoo
- A toothbrush and toothpaste
- Clean dishes and clothes
- Diapers and baby care supplies
All of these items contribute to good health, help us be presentable for our jobs, and cover our basic needs so we can meet the challenges of the day. Most items like these just get added to the grocery list when we start to run low. But some people with few resources who have to prioritize the other basics like food and shelter might take a pass on these sometimes costly “basics.”
If you are able, please help stock our Food Shelf with these personal care items during the month of February (see the complete list of needs above). The families that need the food we supply also need these important non-food items when they visit SOTV. Your gifts make a difference! Thank you!
