Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church

Stewardship
“We all have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.”                                                                                         Romans 12:4-6

Simply Giving
Simply Giving is a program that allows you to support the work of the church through a weekly or monthly electronic transfer of funds. In fact, many people today handle some or all of their finances in this manner. Signing up for Simply Giving costs neither you nor the church anything, and it can be started or stopped at any time. The entire program is underwritten by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

But perhaps its greatest advantage is consistency in giving. During a typical year all of us miss worship for reasons of sickness, business, vacations, or visits to other churches. But Simply Giving allows you to give consistently each week all year long whether you are here or not. It is a safe, simple, no hassle way to give and many have found it very much to their liking.

Download a Simply Giving form or pick one up at the Information Center. Call Beth Karlson or one of your pastors if you have any questions about Simply Giving.

Stock Gifts
The gifting of appreciated stock or bonds to Shepherd of the Valley is a great way to help support the vital ministries of your church, avoid taxation of your gift and receive a benefit on your tax return for your donation. The IRS allows the direct transfer of stock to the church and allows the donor to deduct the value of the stock on the day you give it to the church as a donation on your tax return. You do not have to report the gain in value of your stock as income. The church can sell the stock with no tax consequences.

The process of transferring stock is very easy and all you need to do is call our Finance Office and we can give you the information on how to make this donation. Should you wish to make such a donation, please call Beth Karlson at 952-432-6351 even before you call your broker.
