Care & Prayer Ministries
Parish Nurse information
Prayer Shawl Information
The spiritual care
of our flock of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church
is a high priority for the pastoral staff.
Life Transitions
and Crises
There are so many times of transition and decision in
our lives (job changes, birth of a child, death,
illness, and many others). We are here to offer support,
prayer, and affirmations that God will shepherd you
through it all. We provide pastoral care and are also
able to provide referrals for professional assistance.
We can also help in more practical ways. Don’t
hesitate to call.
Parish
Nurses
SOTV has four trained
and certified parish nurses that are members of the
pastoral care team. Click
here for more information.
Hospitalization
Hospital visitation is a valued and important ministry
for your pastors. Note that because of new Federal
privacy regulations, hospitals will often not share with
the pastoral staff information about your
hospitalization.
If you or a loved one is hospitalized
and you would welcome a visit from the pastoral staff,
please call Pam Husby at 952.432.6351or click
here to email her.
Pastoral
Visitation Ministry
Regular visitation among our less mobile
members is also important to us. Valued on our pastoral
staff currently are Chuck Tindell and Bob Berndt, Visitation Pastor at
Shepherd of the Valley. They visit on a regular basis
our members who cannot often venture from their homes,
or who reside in senior housing or care facilities.
If you or a member of
your family desires such pastoral care, please call the
church office at 952-432-6351.
Prayer
Concerns
At Shepherd of the Valley we have a special group that
prays for our members and non-members joys &
concerns; they pray for those who are ill, having
surgery, celebrating a birth, mourning the loss of a
loved one or have any other joy or concern they want
upheld in prayer. These requests can be put in the
bulletin where the congregation can also pray for you.
Otherwise, they will be limited to the Prayer Chain
distribution. All concerns are made known to SOTV
Pastors, Staff, the Prayer Chain, and Shepherds.
However, at your request, concerns can be kept 'private'
and will only be made known to the Pastors (not prayer
chain).
Prayer Concerns and
updates are received daily and pastors are notified.
Prayer requests are distributed on Friday to pastors,
staff, shepherds, and prayer chain. The Prayer Chain and
Shepherds are notified three ways; via the prayer chain
voice-mail system, the prayer chain e-mail system or via
a printed weekly concerns system.
If you would like to
place someone on our list,
please contact Pam Husby at 952-432-6351 or
pam.husby@sotv.org.
Baby Rose
Ministry
This ministry delivers roses to the homes of new babies
in our congregation. This ministry has an enduring
benefit to the families to whom roses are delivered and
enriches our congregation.
Please be sure to
contact Pam at pam.husby@sotv.org
so we can share in your joy.
Knit One
Prayer, Too
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Knit One Prayer, Too (K1P2) is made up of caring
knitters who craft shawls laden with prayers. The prayer
shawl is given to someone special as a loving reminder
of God's presence. The quiet prayers and busy needles
create a prayer shawl that brings physical warmth and
spiritual comfort.
Click the Prayer
Shawl link on the left side of this page for more
information.
Shepherd
Comforters
Shepherd Comforters is a ministry that offers
consolation to those who have experienced a recent loss
through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. They
bring friendship and prayer. On those occasions when a
loss has been experienced within our community of faith,
a white rose will be placed on the altar to signify the
loss. If you have questions or concerns, please call
Pastor Mary or email Mary.Lund@sotv.org
